Alan Osiovich
Alan is an Occupational Therapist registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) who helps children and teens build practical day-to-day skills related to routines, regulation, independence, and participation at home, school, and in the community. He is happy to help in person or virtually. Occupational Therapy services are provided privately at a cost of $180 per hour. Many families are able to access coverage through extended health benefits or programs such as FSCD.

Alan works with children with a wide range of developmental, functional, and neurodevelopmental profiles, including ADHD, ASD, executive function challenges, sensory processing differences, fine motor concerns, toileting, and feeding difficulties. His approach is practical, structured, parent-focused, and aimed at helping families build strategies that translate into real life.

When developing a treatment plan, Alan uses a functional, goal-oriented model that may include parent coaching, direct child-focused sessions, environmental modifications, sensory and regulation strategies, routine-building, and skill development tailored to the child and family’s needs.

Alan offers complimentary brief phone consults to answer questions and determine whether Occupational Therapy may be a good fit for your child and family. Sessions may be offered in person or virtually depending on family needs and goals.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) helps families, children and teens build the practical skills they need to function more successfully in day-to-day life. This can include things like managing routines, participating at school, improving independence, tolerating sensory environments, developing fine motor skills, and building regulation strategies that work at home and in the community.

At Pinecone Pediatrics, OT is practical, goal-oriented, and parent-focused. The emphasis is not simply on identifying challenges, but on helping families build strategies that improve real-world functioning over time. Care is typically provided in short, focused blocks with an emphasis on carryover outside the clinic. Many concerns are best addressed through parent coaching, environmental modifications, and skill-building integrated into everyday routines.

Alan welcomes referrals and self-referrals for concerns including:

  • Executive functioning difficulties (attention, organization, task initiation, follow-through, routines, transitions)
  • ADHD-related functional challenges
  • Sensory sensitivities and sensory processing concerns
  • Difficulties tolerating noise, touch, movement, clothing, textures, grooming, or busy environments
  • Morning, bedtime, or transition-related struggles
  • Self-care skills (toileting, dressing, hygiene, bathing, feeding, independence)
  • Picky eating and restricted food variety
  • Fine motor difficulties (printing, pencil grasp, scissor skills, hand strength, coordination)
  • School participation challenges related to function or regulation
  • Difficulties with independence at home or in the community
  • Functional challenges associated with ASD
  • Functional challenges associated with developmental differences
  • Motor planning and coordination concerns
  • Support with routines, structure, and carryover at home
  • Parent coaching around regulation, routines, and skill-building
  • Children who are “stuck” despite trying common approaches
  • Functional challenges even without a clear diagnosis
  • Families looking for practical strategies beyond the diagnosis

Occupational Therapy & Pediatric Care, Under One Roof.

Pinecone Pediatrics has partnered with Registered Occupational Therapists to provide more comprehensive care to patients and families.

Our goal is to help children and teens function more successfully in their everyday lives at home, school, and in the community. Many children experience challenges with attention, sensory processing, motor skills, organization, independence, learning, or day-to-day routines. These challenges can affect physical health, mental health, school performance, confidence, and family functioning.

Pediatricians are often able to identify and diagnose developmental, behavioral, and medical conditions that may contribute to these difficulties. In some cases, additional support from an Occupational Therapist can help children improve daily functionning, build practical skills, improve independence, reduce stress, and better participate in daily activities.

Using a team-based approach that combines the skillsets of our Pediatricians with those of our in-house Occupational Therapist means that patients at our clinic can receive coordinated, compassionate, evidence-based care, all under one roof.
